ACOE site visit looms - time to shine, Daegu
by Philip Molter (USAG-Daegu Public Affairs)
DAEGU GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Get ready Daegu! Once again you are in the spotlight as Army Community of Excellence (ACOE) award finalists. The site visit team will be here from Nov. 14 through Nov. 20 to take a closer look at U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Daegu. The visit reprises one the garrison received in 2008, which resulted in a Bronze ACOE award for 2009. This repeat visit and selection as a finalist for the second year in a row highlights how USAG Daegu and its installations - Camps Henry, George, Walker and Carroll, Busan Storage Facility and Pier 8 - stand out as examples for the entire Army to emulate. During the visit, the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) ACOE team will see just why USAG Daegu is a community of choice. "The inspection team will seek to validate the garrison's performance in competition for the (ACOE) Gold Medal", said Ken Edland, of the USAG Daegu Plans, Analysis and Integration Office. "This could be termed a 'Corporate Strategic Audit' in the civilian sector. While showcasing the Garrison as one of IMCOM's best, the site visit also serves as a valuable learning experience. The inspection team will provide the Garrison a comprehensive feedback report which will in turn drive USAG Daegu's strategic plan and enhancement as the Community of Choice for units, Soldiers, Family Members, Department of Defense Employees, and Retirees."
