DAEGU GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Need money for college? Then apply for a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) Scholarship for Military Children!

The program, offered by DeCA and underwritten by Fisher House, seeks to award at least one $1500 scholarship to each commissary - more, if there are several qualified applicants from one commissary.

The scholarship application process begins Nov. 3. Applications are available from the Camp Walker or Camp Carroll Commissaries, or can be downloaded from http://www.militaryscholar.org. Completed applications must be turned in or mailed to the commissary (NOT e-mailed or faxed) to arrive by Feb. 17.

To be eligible for the scholarships, you must be a dependent child, under age 23, of Active Duty, Reserve/Guard or Retired military members and survivors of individuals who died while receiving their military pay. You must be enrolled in or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate degree program in fall, 2010. Scholarships can be awarded both to high school seniors or those already working on their first undergraduate degree with a full-time course load.

Complete details are available at www.militaryscholar.org.

Winners will be notified by letters mailed on or about May 3, 2010. Checks will be mailed on or about Aug. 1 to the recipients, who must then forward the check to the college they will be attending.

Students with questions about the application can contact Buddy Kolath at the Camp Walker commissary, 764-5016. Scholarship Managers (the organization that manages the selection process) can be contacted directly at (856) 616-9311 or by e-mail,

militaryscholar@scholarshipmanagers.com.
