Gate construction impacting traffic on Henry, Walker
by Philip Molter (USAG-Daegu Public Affairs)
DAEGU GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Camp Henry's Gate 1 closed to all vehicles and pedestrians Nov. 1 for force protection upgrades, and will remain closed through August 2010. Camp Walker's Gate 6 will also completely close Dec. 1 for nine months due to construction, according to U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Daegu Director of Emergency Services, Rob Nelson. Vehicular traffic entering and exiting Camp Henry will have to use Gate 2 during this period. Please note that all cars exiting Camp Henry via Gate 2 must turn right on a red light to route 63. If continuing to Camp Walker or Camp George, simply circle around Camp Henry by making three consecutive right hand turns to get back to route 63. To ease foot traffic on Camp Henry, a small pedestrian-only gate will be opened in the North fence line, adjacent to Victory Field. This gate will open Monday to Friday from 7 to 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Gate 7 (the Heliport Gate) on Camp Walker will open Dec. 1 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Truck and bus traffic for Camp Walker will have to use Gate 7 (the Heliport Gate). Vehicles can also use this gate inbound ONLY from 6:30 - 8 a.m. and outbound ONLY from 4:45 - 6 p.m. daily. NO pedestrian traffic will be allowed through Gate 7. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to plan accordingly for longer commute times. |
